A Little Swash, a Little Buckle....

It may not look like much now, but soon it will be pirates and privateers, daring damsels and lost boys. Peter and The Starcatcher opens in two weeks and creating the uber creative mind space the show needs has been a challenge. And a delight. Who wouldn't want to play in this sand box?
The script is all about story telling, the reality is all about thrift. It is a set of recycled parts. The ladders that support the masts are from our standard false proscenium, last seen last season as the set of Hello! My Baby.

We dug out our rake supports, built for us years ago by Stuart Johnson and used multiple times since, rearranged them into the two raised decks.
The 10' space saving escape stairs built for the upper deck of In the Heights lay down to become walkable, sturdy railings.
I think this ladder was left over by the company that installed the original ceiling. We found it hiding in a drop down behind  a wall in the cat walk.
We did buy fresh lumber to build the stage extension. Sometimes you just gotta do that.
Especially if you plan to put a 15' trough in it.
Trap doors are grid sections from the Bat Boy towers.
And can anyone spot the Little Mermaid bits?
Inch by inch, it's coming together. Like Cinderella's mice-made dress, we're making it from scratch. Stay tuned for the final product!
